The Suite Beach Life — Mandalay Embassy Suites

Most people travel across oceans to experience a piece of paradise. Traveling to far away lands such as Costa Rica, Cancun, Puerto Rico and so on. What do these locations have in common? Delicious food and stunning beach scenes!

I have always been a fan of the Channel Islands Beach and Harbor area lifestyle. People riding around in their electric golf carts, paddle boarding to get drinks at one of the local restaurants, or riding bicycles along the beach path. I have experienced each of these, sometimes all 3 in the same day, living here for the past 3 1/2 years. Living in the harbor, I would run through Oxnard Beach Park and along the winding cement path that runs along Hollywood Beach and Mandalay Embassy Suites Hotel. I was always in awe of the beautiful Spanish architecture of the hotel, not to mention the prime location just above the bluffs of Hollywood Beach. But inside of those rod-iron metal gates, they hold a secret that not many know about…until now.

Enter through the gates and you are immediately transported to a beach side resort. Who wouldn't want to be treated to lunch, resort style? We sat semi poolside on the patio at the Coastal Grill which serves American fare using locally sourced and fresh ingredients. From our umbrella covered table, we had stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and also the rock decorated pool. The variety of food on the menu was limited but don’t let that deter you, the American standards were all present. We ordered fish & chips and also club sandwiched from the friendly server.

The food was brought out on modern classy dinnerware arranged with flair. The presentation alone was deserving of an A+ with fresh sliced avocado, thick crispy bacon and crispy fries in a metal cup. The combination of those delectable ingredients was delicious! The fish and chips entree was nothing short of picture perfect. 3 crispy crunchy pieces of fish laid over a bed of battered french fries on a decorative paper titled The Daily Telegraph.

Throughout lunch, we could not help but comment on the resort feel of the hotel and our stunning view of the ocean. With the grotto style spa areas to the quaint waterfalls to the crystal clear and warm pool, the grounds were beautiful and ready for patrons. We cumulatively agreed that the Coastal Grill had become one of our favorite new local restaurants.
